Darius DocD Baker

Producer, Arranger, Writer, Musical Director
CEO, D-Reel Productions

young, accomplished producer extraordinaire from Tallahassee, Florida. Darius specializes in a variety of music forms ranging from Gospel, Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Country, Blues, Pop and more. To sum it up…….. “If you want a hit record, you need to get, “Doc D”.

Baker’s musical resume includes the major development of Pat Rowe who was the lead singer of the Motown recording group Prophet Jones; former musical director and arranger of the “live” band, The Phat Cat Players, and current Musical Director for The Chapter and Tallahassee Nights Live! (a regional, monthly soul music showcase). Darius actually created Tallahassee Nights Live and now After Church Live (a live show centered on Christian entertainment). With both shows doing extremely well, a reality show for both productions in development, currently producing 3 albums……. One can see why he is one of the most sought after producers in our region.

At age 20, Baker met “world boxing champion” Roy Jones Jr., and produced 5 of his entrance tracks. “Enough Is Enough” was distributed and received major airplay and support from both boxing aficionados and music lovers. Roy Jones Jr. won his title back against Montel Griffin with that particular track.

With appearances on both BET’s “Video Vibrations and BET Live from L.A”, Darius is not a stranger to the limelight. As an accomplished pianist and music director, Darius Baker has performed with a variety of stars such as: Brian McKnight, D’Angelo, Mary, Mary, George Clinton and P-Funk, Eric Benet, Shanice, The Isley Brothers, Rev. Timothy Wright, Carl Thomas, K-Ci and Jo-Jo, Keith Sweat and the list goes on. Along with the band, “The Phat Cat Players”, Baker has performed on both the 1st and 2nd Fantastic Voyages with Tom Joyner.
Doc says that,” In the music industry, you have what you’d call PRODUCERS and BEAT MAKERS. I am a producer who understands voice, chord structure, what fits and what doesn’t, and I am a musician! So many times you may have “beat makers” who try to force a RAP track on an artist who sounds like India Arie. God has blessed so that I can produce for ANY ARTIST in ANY GENRE and I always love a challenge!
